December 1st, 2012 marks the twenty fifth time that World AIDS Day is observed. The awareness day has been held annually since it was first established by the World Health Organization in 1988. 34 million people live with HIV throughout the world. Here is how my two cities, Paris and Washington, honoured those who passed away from AIDS:
This year’s theme, “Getting to Zero,” will last until 2015 and revolves around the World AIDS Day target of “zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS related deaths.” Let’s hope that happens sooner rather than later…
