The 8th Annual French Market – Georgetown’s signature open-air European market featuring over 30 shops, cafes and galleries will take place in the charming Book Hill neighborhood on Saturday April 29th and Sunday April 30th, 2011 (10am-5pm). The event takes place along upper Wisconsin Avenue, NW, between P Street and Reservoir Road. Save the date and see you there!
Some of the things I am looking forward to at the French Market? $6 wine tasting (and 15% off all purchases) at Bacchus Wine Cellar, Patisserie Poupon grilling some merguez outside their cute Wisconsin Avenue store, sangria (and maybe a macaron) on the patio lounge at Puro Cafe, Lobster rolls on French baguette outside of Clyde’s of Georgetown (saturday only) and of course some tasty crepes from Cafe Bonaparte! Things I am not looking forward too? Berets and accordion music everywhere. How I wish this stereotype would die someday! Someday soon!!!
And of course since Friday is also Royal Wedding day and I’m sure some of you can’t bear the thought of missing out on Catherine and Williams’ nuptials, I should point out that 2 Patisserie Poupon and Puro Cafe have you covered. Both places will be celebrating with some British treats. Which could seem ironic during the French market, but actually makes perfect sense since London is now the 2nd largest French city in the world anyways 😉
Hot Club of DC and Laissez Foure will be there providing vintage and French jazz classics for all. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
