Sure he has lived in DC for 17 years and is one of the area’s most beloved chefs, but Chef Jose Andres is first and foremost a Spaniard. And Spaniards like football! Chef Jose Andres is teaming up with the Society of Spain and inviting fellow supporters of La Furia Roja to join him tomorrow (July 29th) at his Bethesda restaurant Jaleo to watch Spain take on Portugal. The game, which starts at 2:30pm, will be *epic* to say the least. The battle will put to the test the old “love thy neighbour” saying as it pits the two Iberian neighbours against one another in their quest to advance to the quarter finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The two countries are currently ranked #2 and #3 in the world. With their long history of rivalries and disputed borders they have surprisingly never met in the finals of the World Cup…so the game is not only epic, but also historic!
A game this big deserves more than one watch party… and so if Jose Andres isn’t enough of a draw to get you to Bethesda, the Society of Spain is also hosting supporters at Black Finn. Go Spain!!
