My mom sent me this picture of one of my fave parisian monument, La Conciergerie, with the caption: “La Conciergerie gets wrapped up…but not by Christo.”
LOL. Or should I say MDR?
Visitors who only have a few days in Paris typically overlook this amazing former royal palace. Perhaps better known as Marie-Antoinette’s prison, fthe ortress like building on the Ile-de-la-Cité has a rich history and is now part of the larger complex known as the Palais de Justice, which also includes the beautifully gothic Sainte Chapelle. Right behind La Conciergerie is Le Pont Neuf, a parisian landmark which did receive the wrapping treatment from Christo back in the fall of 1985 (right when I moved to Paris!!) Check out some of the pictures from Christo’s website. I think the golden sandstone silky fabric suits the bridge very well 😉
